Cancellation Process: If you cancel your registration 7 days or more before the workshop begins, we will refund your tuition, less 10% for processing. Less than one week before the workshop begins, you may 1) substitute another person at your grade level in your place or 2) apply your credit toward an Origins workshop within one year. We will work with extenuating circumstances as necessary.

Participants explore and practice the six key components of the Responsive Classroom: Classroom Organization, Morning Meeting, Rules and Logical Consequences, Academic Choice, Guided Discovery, and Communicating with Parents. There are large- and small-group sessions, times for individual reflection, and opportunities for learning classroom songs and games.

| Responsive Classroom 2 |
|
| |
Participants examine in depth their understanding of Responsive Classroom approaches, especially Academic Choice, Rules and Logical Consequences, with special emphasis on problem-solving strategies and other structures for dealing with chronic behavior issues. Prerequisite: Responsive Classroom 1 Weeklong Workshop

| Responsive Classroom 3 |
|

Working with colleagues in a seminar format, participants do personal and collective explorations of the components and practices of the Responsive Classroom approach. The work is based on an issue you bring from your own classroom. Using a problem-solving approach, participants develop action plans to define and address key elements of growth in their own teaching practice. Prerequisite: Responsive Classroom 2

| Literacy in a Responsive Classroom |
|

This workshop applies the instructional approaches of the Responsive Classroom to the language arts curriculum, grades K-6. Participants will discover ways to engage children in active literacy experiences with high levels of accountability. They will discuss and practice techniques, prepare “make-and-take” materials, and plan curriculum and individual lessons in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Prerequisite: Responsive Classroom 1
